Helping authors navigate the Self Publishing Minefield!

<itunes:subtitle>The Internet's First Self Publishing Radio Station</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>A simple search on any of the major search engines using the keyword phrase self publishing reveals a virtual minefield which a future Mark Twain or Edgar Alan Poe needs to navigate to become a successful self publisher. This weekly program, an outgrowth of the Publishing Basics newsletter is designed to educate the self publisher and help them avoid making costly mistakes in the self publishing process. Host Ron Pramschufer's experience spans three decades in the printing and publishing industry. His no nonsense approach to self publishing and the various services vying for the self publisher's hard earned money is a refreshing cross between Colombo and Bill O'Reilly. Each week he interviews various industry leaders whose companies or services have a direct impact on the author trying to become a publishing success. Ron also writes the monthly Ask Ron column in the Publishing Basics Newsletter. Publishing Basics Radio is sponsored by www.SelfPublishing.com. New shows air every Friday at noon.</itunes:summary>

Are they a traditional publisher? Are they a vanity press? Are they a POD Publisher? Publish America is a very unique publisher in that a simple Google search will lead to entire websites devoted to the demise of Publish America, while at the same time lead to people who love them. Publish America was left out of the original Truth About POD Publishing series because it didn't quite fit the pay to be published publisher mold. Their name did, however come up in the interviews with Dave Maturo, formerly with XLibris, Susan Driscoll, the President of IUniverse and Mark Levine, the author of The Fine Print - What POD Contracts Really Say. Even the opinions among these three ranged from "They are great" to "They are hated". Numerous calls were made to Publish in an attempt to get someone to come on the Publishing Basics radio show and answer some of the questions that were being raised. After all our attempts failed, we decided to interview Jenna Glatzer , the head of one of the largest writers groups in the country regarding feedback she has received from her members regarding Publish America. There is no gray area in her opinion.
